  • Principal's Welcome

Wanneroo Primary is highly regarded for its strong partnerships in which students are nurtured and supported to achieve and successes are celebrated. The core to the learning philosophy at Wanneroo Primary is the education of the whole child where the strong focus on promoting the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development well being of its students.

In 2011 our school was privileged to be selected to become an Independent Public School (IPS) which has provided us with the scope for greater autonomy, self regulation, the ability to select staff and a responsibility to prepare our students for the 21st century.

Wanneroo Primary is situated in the northern outer metropolitan suburb of Wanneroo which was once an important meeting area for the Noongar Aboriginal people. The school, which was founded in 1899, caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Our families come from a wide geographical area including rural farm lots served by a school bus, town residences and rapidly increasing housing estates to the north, south and west of the town site. In 2005, Wanneroo and Wanneroo Junior Primary amalgamated and a new school was constructed which has resulted in well appointed facilities complete with air conditioned buildings set in secure and attractive grounds. Additional classrooms and resources have recently been constructed which has allowed us to extend our early childhood and specialist facilities.

With its motto of “Growing Together,” Wanneroo Primary is highly regarded for its strong partnerships in which students are nurtured and supported to achieve and successes are celebrated. At the core of our philosophy for learning at Wanneroo Primary is a strong focus on promoting the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of our students. The learning environment is enhanced with opportunities to engage in a range of innovative growth programs in out of school hours including robotics, iPads, sustainability, lego club and skipping. Students from Yr 3 - 6 receive weekly instruction in Bahasa Indonesia. The AIS program introduces the students to the basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in the Indonesian language. The program also gives the students an opportunity to develop an appreciation, awareness and understanding of the diverse cultures of Indonesia.

The strategic direction of the school for the next three years is outlined in the Wanneroo Primary Business Plan. The direction of the school has been set by the School Board in conjunction with the staff who were involved in an in depth analysis of a range of academic and non-academic data. Performance improvement targets have been set to maximise student achievement with milestones for teaching, the learning environment, relationships, leadership and resources. There is a strong focus on the implementation of whole school initiatives for improvement based on research of contemporary teaching, learning and assessment strategies that are relevant for the context of Wanneroo Primary. The agreed values of respect, integrity, safety and engagement are embedded across the school community. One of the strengths of the school is its experienced and professional staff whose collaborative approach to teaching is recognised and valued by the community.

The involvement of parents at Wanneroo Primary is crucial. In order for there to be understanding and awareness of the needs of the child it is crucial for a close and effective working relationship to be developed between the school and home. Above all children value the involvement of their parents and the learning is enhanced when a child can see their parent considers it important enough to take an active interest in their education.

As an Independent Public School, Wanneroo Primary is well placed to build on its proud heritage and tradition of Growing Together. If you would like more information about our school we encourage you to make contact in person, by phone or email below.

  • School Crest

The school crest was designed by Norma Mac Donald. It acknowledges that the area has always been a good source of food and water, particularly for the initial inhabitants of the land - the Noongar people.
