The Principal may reserve the right to request a Statutory Declaration in support of claims made.

    Custody

It is not the role of Wanneroo Primary School to interpret or police court orders, or to mediate disputes between parents. The school’s role is to provide for the education of the student and their safety and welfare while in the school’s care and control. If there are custodial court papers in place for a child it is vital to inform the principal of the access provisions. Written documentation including copies of court orders and relevant legal documents must be provided on enrolment. The school must be notified of any changes.

    Kindergarten

Although Kindergarten is not a compulsory year of school, more than 98% of West Australian children attend because it helps give them the best possible start to school. Children are eligible for Kindergarten if they turn four years old by 30 June in that year. There is no provision for early entry into Kindergarten.

The Kindergarten program offers a safe, encouraging and supportive environment. It develops literacy and numeracy skills essential for future learning. Kindergarten classes are limited to 20-22 students and teachers are assisted by a full time teacher’s assistant.

    When Do I Enrol?

Kindergarten Applications for can be made at the school office during the hours of 9am to 3pm.

Applications for the first round of offers for Kindergarten are accepted any time during the year before attending until the closing date. For children starting in Kindergarten the closing date for applications for the first round of offers is the first Friday in Term 3 of the previous year. Applications may still be made after this date but once places are full your application will be on a waiting list pending a vacancy.

Following the closing date, applications will be assessed (this takes place in August) and letters sent to parents in September indicating the outcome. Once offers have been made, successful families should complete and submit the enrolment and consent forms contained in their package. Enrolment forms are then processed and families will be notified of class rosters and teacher names at orientation in November.
